About
I'm Jasmine, 23, French-Sicilian-Korean. I grew up in a lot of different places and Berlin has been home for the past three years.
By day I work in tech. I sell cloud computing services and spend most of my time around engineering teams and data centers. Being that close to tech and innovation on the daily, I see how often all that progress ends up working against us.
I see analog photography as my safe haven. A roll only has very few shots, so every picture is thought through and I'm not spamming the shutter. Light hits light-sensitive film, and that's the picture. I barely edit, only when it's really needed. The results feel almost magical to me, and so does the proces. Not knowing which shots worked, forgetting what was even on the roll, and being surprised when the scans come back.
Outside of photography, taekwondo is a big part of my life. I'm a black belt, I've been training for four years and I'm on the mat three times a week. Off the mat, I've been exploring other forms of art. Music and cinematography are where I get most of my inspiration from.
I'm trying to reconnect with my inner creative child, the part of me that made things just to see what would happen. Photography opened that door again, and I want to keep experimenting: filming short videos on Super 8, painting, drawing again, trying cyanotype printing... Not everything will work, and that's part of the point.
